TP52 Vicotory by Russell Coutts

Marseille, France: Russell Coutts, already victorious in the 2007 TP 52 Circuit with Artemis, has now won the Trophy of the City of Marseilles aboard USA17. For Russell it was a question of the first and final leg, given that immediately after this wonderful experience he will dedicate himself entirely to the Americas Cup, with the exception of “his” RC 44s. Amongst this fiercely competitive fleet, Russell and Co (James Spithill, Michele Ivaldi, Max Sirena apart, naturally, from boat owner, Lerry Ellison), despite only 5 days practice sailing with this brand new boat, had three partial victories and a series of other regular partial wins. With USA 17, RussellCoutts won with a good 6 point lead over Artemis.

The regattas were all held in very strong northwest winds (so much so that, on the last day, sailing had to be cancelled because of the violent gusts) and, on board, they wore RC Spray Tops with Long Johns, Bistrow T-shirts and, in some cases, Seamless Zip tops; on their feet – New Mistral shoes.

As for the other boats participating in SLAM clothing from the “Advanced” collection - Matador ended the event in sixth place, Audi Q8 in ninth.
